About Me:
Update: New Year, 2008
After a rather long hiatus while I focused on the care and feeding of our newest addition to the family – a girl! born in Spring of 2007 – I finally felt the embers of my own 'inner flame' pop and crackle a bit. I am slowly, ever so slowly adding faith and hope to the fire. I'm feeling renewed and refreshed, and embracing life work that I have ignored for many years. This means that I am writing again. A hidden passion of mine for many years.

I asked my husband, if I where animal, what kind did he think I would be?
“A Deer.”
“A deer? Why?” I asked– with thoughts in my head of all kinds of other animals that I was sure he should consider. Like maybe the wolf, loyal and wise. Or how about the Eagle, soaring to new heights? What about…
“Because, they are fragile, yet regal and elegant…they are delicate, but very powerful and strong.”
Once again, I learn to see myself in new ways, and to listen to my husband when he speaks.
I live in the Redwood Coast of Northern California with my aforementioned husband and a deliciously magical little 2 year old daughter along with two very jealous dogs.
I am a clinically trained herbalist with an online shoppe–www.theblessedthistle.com– where I sell my line of Goddess Teas; a graduate of JFKU; as well as being an initiate of a Western Mystery Goddess Tradition, founded by Victor and Cora Anderson. While tools of the Craft are a staple, the Feri Tradition is also rooted in ecstatic shamanism, meditation practice, ritual and beauty amongst a myriad of other influences, from Celtic history to Buddhism.
I am developing my practice and passion, which right now I call Soul Medicine. I utlize not only herbal medicine with clients, but a process of shamanic healing and overall well-being of body/mind/soul to create a holistic map & tools for a person to utilize.
Why “Flame Keeper”? A friend years ago said to me “I could never figure it out because I always got that you are meant to be a healer, y'know? But your not like regular healers, who are all calm and serene. Now I get it! You walk into a room and light a fire under people's asses!” I still struggle with how to embrace the healer I am, and not the healer that others expect to see.
And I'm paying respect to a patroness, the Goddess Brigid, as well a nod to my Scottish/Irish heritage. The Inner Flame, the spark of life that is the Soul that no one can explain – it is Mystery. And well and good that it is. Some things don't need explaining, but adoring, tending to and beholding. All that, and I tend to be good at lighting fires and keeping them goin' ;>
Quote of the day:
“I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear
I learn by going where I have to go”
